The Prerana Special School, Started on 22nd April, 2004 in Malakpet, Hyderabad, with the sole aim of providing dedicated services to the Mentally Challenged Children.

The School has made a humble beginning with 4 children and its academic year has started in June, 2004 and currently we have 55 children between the age group 4 years to 35 and above years. We have 8 teaching staff of which 3 is trained teachers, 2 Vocational instructors 2 Asst. teachers, a Speech Therapist and a Physiotherapist. We have set up Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, Pre-vocational and Vocational units and children will be trained in appropriate units according to their levels. Almost all the children have basic functional problems of life like taking care of themselves, communication skills, physical problems, behavioral problems and in academics. These children are sub-average in intelligence and are trained under different age groups.

After their assessment, a systematic curriculum is developed for these children TO DEVELOP THEIR PERSONAL SKILLS/ADEQUACY, TO DEVELOP THEIR SOCIAL COMPETENCE AND TO DEVELOP THEIR OCCUPATIONAL COMPETENCE.
